Munchables was started in Vancouver, Canada, after the birth of my first child, Aiden, in 2013. In the first months of my new venture, as I faced the steep learning curve, of running my own business, I focused primarily on the emerging market of teething jewelry for babies. I spent a lot of time explaining to new parents what this new teething tool was, but it quickly caught on.
During this time, I listened to increasing numbers of parents who asked me to shorten styles designed for adults for their kids. I quickly realized that there was a void of stylish, discreet chewelry (chew + jewelry). From that point onwards, I became passionate about designing styles that children can feel confident wearing either at home or with friends.
I am thrilled that Munchables is now recognized by the Canadian Association of Occupational Therapists for their ability to divert chewing and "to provide potential regulating effects for the sensory system - reducing fidgeting and promoting attention and focus."
I am incredibly lucky to have the support of my husband and mother to help raise my two children, aged 5 and 7, who are home-schooled. It is balancing act running a home-based business and having our children around all the time, but I feel so blessed to have found my calling. I would love to hear from you if you have any comments, suggestions or questions at firstname.lastname@example.org.
